STACY THUNES KRIEGER
If I were to write a movie about my life, this would be the first scene:
INT. 6th GRADE CLASSROOM. DAY.
It’s 1972 and a small, rambunctious group of 11 year-olds clamor to their seats as the BELL RINGS. As soon as they’re all seated, a pretty woman, early 20’s, holding a rolled up magazine in one hand, enters the room. She looks around, smiles, goes to the blackboard (that was when it was still called a blackboard) and writes:
MY NAME IS MAUREEN. I AM YOUR SUBSTITUTE TEACHER.
The children suddenly jump up and run around the room again, except for one little girl called STACY. She walks over to the desk where Maureen is sitting, leafing through a gossip magazine.
What’s our lesson for today?
Maureen smiles and looks up at the sweet, curious face. A short pause. Then.
Writing. Write something.
So I went back to my desk and wrote, by hand, the entire screenplay to Irwin Allen’s The Poseidon Adventure, a movie I had already seen 65 times. Obsessed? Definitely.
That was also the year I began acting, my first production was Oliver! at the College of Marin. My love of acting and writing was now solidified. I had my first typewriter when I was 16 and took typing classes so I could type letters to all my friends from wherever I happened to be at the time. And I was all over the place.
I have lived in three different countries, written several screenplays, acted in numerous theater productions, films, and music videos, and was the lead singer
in an all-girl rock band called "The Lewinskys".
I am completely self-taught, motivated by a love of humanity and my passion for the art of storytelling.
In addition, I am a licensed hypnotherapist and have been a practicing Buddhist since 1988.
